Hulu’s “The Bear” has cooked up its first trailer for Season 2, coming to Hulu on June 22. “The Bear” was a surprise hit last year for Hulu, as fans fell in love with the chaotic, yet adored, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White. Season 1 ended with Carmy and his cooks finding hundreds of dollars of hidden money left over by his late brother Mikey, and they plan to reinvent The Beef eatery into the new and improved The Bear restaurant. Here’s the Season 2 logline: “Carmy, Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot. As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future. Of course, it turns out the only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning. The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well. As the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and relationships, they also learn what it means to be in service, both to diners and each other.”

McKinley Franklin editor Asylum Entertainment Group has partnered with rocker Tom Morello for a first-look co-production deal with Morello’s recently formed company Comandante Productions, Variety can reveal exclusively.  Morello’s Comandante Productions and Asylum aim to build a portfolio of documentary films and series surrounding Morello’s history in the music industry, social consciousness and dedication to activism.  Morello, of course, is well-known for his work with both Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, two bands that have amassed more than 30 million album sales worldwide. He’s also a Grammy-winning artist and a recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (as part of this year’s class of honorees).

Thania Garcia Kim Petras has set a June 23 release date for her highly-anticipated major label debut album, “Feed the Beast.” Petras has released a series of EPs and compilation albums over the past few years, though “Feed the Beast” will be her first full-length LP on Republic Records/Amigo Records. Petras first publicized the news on social media alongside an image of a medieval-looking sword resting against a pile of rocks. In the caption for the post, she wrote: “The story begins on June 23,” and attached a link for fans to pre-save the album on streaming platforms. The story begins on June 23rd. For years, costume designers have been fighting for pay equity and recognition for their valuable work. Not only are they the last people off set, they are the first ones there in the morning, the costume designers argue. Their industry is comprised almost entirely of women, and they are paid far less than those in the male-dominated field of production design.

Hold on, I’m not going to dust off the tired “what’s comedy versus drama” debate. I feel like we lost that battle long ago when hourlong comedic dramas (or dramatic comedies) like “Ally McBeal” and “Desperate Housewives” won comedy Emmys. Shows like “Beef” and Peacock’s “Mrs. Davis” have avoided the debate entirely by instead entering the limited Emmy race. And that’s perhaps for the best — Although “Beef” would seemingly land otherwise in the comedy race and “Mrs. Davis” in the drama race… I think “Mrs. Davis” may be the most lighthearted of any of the shows I’ve mentioned so far (and not nearly as stressful, despite the fact that it’s about A.I., the thing that will probably put me out of a job in a few years._
