Warning issued to parents after rise in measles cases - the symptoms to look out for

Parents have been warned about a rise in measles cases and are being urged to check their children are fully up to date with their MMR vaccinations.

New data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows there have been 49 lab-confirmed measles cases recorded in England between January 1 and April 20, 2023.

Thirty-three of these cases were in London but seven of the UK Health Security Agency’s (UKHSA) nine regions had detected at least one case.

Forty per cent of cases were in children aged under five years and 27 per cent in people aged 15 to 34 years. There has been one confirmed case in the North West.
