A Lanarkshire woman with cancer which spread to her lungs after the condition went misdiagnosed for two years is helping raise awareness of its impact on children and young adults.Anne Whalin, 48, from Hamilton, believes it is crucial to raise awareness of sarcomas.
They are uncommon cancers in adults that can affect any part of the body, however, they are the third most common cancers to affect children, teenagers and young adults in the UK.Sarcomas have a worse survival rate than average for cancers affecting people aged up to 24 years.
On average people with sarcomas are 15 per cent less likely to survive for five years than from other cancers affecting children and young people.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
