Two boys aged 16 have been arrested by detectives investigating a reported rape in a park in Bolton. Greater Manchester Police said officers were 'made aware' on Saturday of reports of a rape in Queen's Park off Chorley New Road in the town.

Both teenagers were subsequently arrested on suspicion of rape, the force said in a statement. In the statement, GMP said: "On Saturday 8 March, Greater Manchester Police were made aware of a suspected rape at Queens Park, Bolton.

The victim is a female. Detective Inspector Ruth Atherton, from GMP's Bolton division, said detectives believe the incident was 'targeted' and the victim was being offered specialist support.
