Tributes paid to Lanarkshire man killed by van as fiancee and mother-in-law rushed to hospital

Tributes have been paid to a ‘one-in-a-million’ Lanarkshire man who died after being hit by a van. The 29-year-old, named locally as Craig Wilson, from Motherwell, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on the A726 Glasgow Road in Strathaven at around 10.50am on April 1.

Craig’s girlfriend Hannah Duddy, 24, and her 52-year-old mum were also struck by the vehicle.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Her mother was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the horrific incident, where medics say her condition is “serious but stable”.Craig’s best friend Nicholas Neilly posted the tragic news on Facebook.He said: “On behalf of the family of Craig Wilson, it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce Craig was involved in a Road Traffic Accident on 01/04/2023 around 11am.“Sadly, Craig passed away at the scene where he, his fiancee - Hannah and Hannah’s Mother were also involved.
