When charity volunteer James Tuffin started hunting for discarded items in the River Irvine, he pulled out not only five trolleys and a bike but also made a roarsome discovery.Out from the river came a rather worse-for-wear tiger - thankfully not a real big cat - but one of the cuddly variety who seemed to have a paws in a relationship with its owner. Now Irvine Clean Up Crew organisers have their eye on reuniting this particular tiger with its keeper after it was given a couple of spin cycles in the washing machine to leave it looking like new.And now they are encouraging the rightful owner to come forward and reclaim the mascot. And they are encouraging people not to throw things away.Jen Pless, Irvine Clean-Up Crew chairperson, said: “The tiger was found in the river by one of our volunteers.“He also rescued five trolleys and a bike from the river under the Rivergate Centre at the same time.

James is really good at trying to make things new again, where others might just put it in the bin.“He gave Tiger a wash and I think we can all agree he now looks as good as new. When found the tiger was wearing a nappy so we think it must have been a well-loved toy that had an unfortunate adventure in the river.“We’d love to try and re-unite Tiger with its owner if we can.“If that isn’t successful we’ve already had an offer of an adoption to help share with other children the message of fixing our belongings first before buying new.”If you are the owner of Tiger or know anything about his disappearance, contact Irvine Clean-Up Crew via their Facebook page.
