‘The Traitors’ UK celebrity edition announced
nme.comBBC has announced a celebrity version of The Traitors, and has confirmed the regular format of the show will return for a fourth season.Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the reality series sees contestants compete for a prize fund worth up to £120,000 at a castle in the Scottish Highlands.As they arrive at the castle, a small number are selected to be ‘Traitors’ who have to eliminate the ‘Faithful’ contestants to claim the prize.
However, if the latter manage to work out and banish the deceitful contestants through daily roundtable meetings, they win the cash prize instead.There have been two seasons of the show broadcast so far, and before the previously-commissioned third season airs – expected to be in early 2025 – the BBC has said the first ever celebrity version will be hitting the airwaves.The Corporation’s head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight has said: “The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level.
It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!”The BBC renewed the regular version of The Traitors for a third season in November last year and in March, it was reported that contestants had been hatching a plot to use a secret code to communicate with each other in an attempt to conspire to win the show.At the time, contestants were still at the interview stage, but representatives of production company Studio Lambert were said to have been informed of the plan and had removed all of the alleged plotters.That season has now completed its filming process, and well before.
