Europe and the USA are gearing up for a titanic tussle in Rome as one of the greatest events in world sport gets set to tee off at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
Zach Johnson’s side cross the Atlantic looking to retain the crown they won two years ago with a 19-9 victory at Whistling Straits.
But to do that they will have to achieve something they haven’t managed since 1993 at the Belfry - win the Ryder Cup on European soil. The men aiming to do that are, led captain Johnson, are Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas who return as reigning champions.
Sam Burns, Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, Brian Harman and Max Homa are the team's newcomers in 2023. Trying to dethrone them, skippered by Luke Donald, are Scotland's very own Bob MacIntyre, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Nicolai Hojgaard, Ludvig Aberg, Sepp Straka and Shane Lowry.
