A teenager was rushed to hospital after a violent street brawl involving weapons on Monday night (April 3). A group of around 14 people were involved in the large disorder on Tweedale Street in Rochdale at around 10.30pm.
Police said people were seen to be carrying and using weapons in the attack before then running off from the area as members of the public came over to intervene.
A 16-year-old suffered injuries in the incident and was rushed to hospital for treatment where he remains. Another teenager, also 16, was arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of section 18 assault and is in custody. There will be an increased number of officers patrolling the area over the coming days. Chief Superintendent Nicky Porter, GMP Rochdale’s District Commander said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the public that this incident last night has certainly not gone unnoticed and we are actively pursuing all lines on enquiry to establish the circumstances of this incident. “We are also aware that this incident has understandably caused some concern in the local area.
