A 19-year-old suffered a broken neck in a horror crash in Ayr which left three passengers injured.Olivia Lauchlan is recovering from a major emergency op where top surgeons inserted a metal cage into her neck.Her mum Tracy Lauchlan says it is a miracle her daughter wasn’t left paralysed after the smash outside homes in Alloway last Friday.The stressed parent has told of her family’s week from hell as they faced an anxious wait for good news, with Olivia going under the knife for EIGHT hours, before being told that she will be able to walk again.Olivia was blue-lighted to a specialist spinal unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow following the one-vehicle crash on The Loaning in Alloway one week ago.And Tracy has told how she had to rush home from a weekend away on an island near Oban when she was given the call that is “every parent's worst nightmare.”Tracy told Ayrshire Live: “Our baby girl is lying in hospital with a broken neck, she is only 19.“She should be out partying with her friends this weekend and getting ready for her friend's birthday.“Instead she has been wondering if she was going to end up paralysed.“It has been every parent's worst nightmare.“My partner Rob and I were away to the Isle of Seil when it happened.

We had to rush back home.“Thankfully Olivia’s sister was able to rush down to the scene and be with her.”Tracy has been full of praise for her brave daughter who has kept smiling throughout the agony.

And over the weekend, Olivia defied the odds by taking her first steps since the accident.Mum Tracy added: “She has been so brave to go through what she has.“She has been getting stronger every day since the surgery on Wednesday, and she keeps smiling, after being through so much
