A popular Indian restaurant which donated meal vouchers to schools and supported the NHS during the lockdown has announced its closure after 12 years due to the cost of living crisis.

Zing and Zest, on Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne, has been in operation since 2012 and has a four star rating on TripAdvisor, with people raving over its 'flavoursome' food and 'attentive' service.

Alongside serving popular Indian dishes throughout the week, it also served an all-you-can-eat buffet on Sunday's. But in a statement on social media, co-owner Habibi Rahman said it had been a ‘difficult’ decision to close the restaurant but one that had been made in the face of rising energy and trading costs.
