Sheriff blasts thug for carrying 'terrifying' scalpel blade in Lanarkshire shopping centre

A sheriff hit out at a yob who was caught with a "terrifying" blade at East Kilbride Shopping Centre.Nicki Morgan, 29, was jailed for 14 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.He admitted unlawful possession of a scalpel on October 10 and assaulting a police officer after his arrest.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

This turned out to be a scalpel blade."Morgan was put in a police vehicle and he lunged at an officer, striking him with his head on the shoulder."Defence agent Andy Thomson said dad-of-one Morgan had been taking cocaine, valium and alcohol "to excess".The solicitor added: "He's not sure how this item came to be on his person but, to his credit, when he realised it was there he took action to get rid of
