A mum and daughter completely transformed their lives after agreeing to try and lose weight together. Liz Stratchan began avoiding social gatherings due to feeling self-conscious about her size, while her eldest daughter Cheryl Fowler burst into teaers after stepping on the scales at a medical appointment.The pair decided enough was enough and made a committment to help each other shed some pounds.

Together, they signed up for a local Slimming World group and were left stunned by the results.Within eight months, they had lost more than 10st between them - and were delighted to be celebrating a happier and healthier Mother's Day this time last year.Speaking in March 2023, Liz, from Livingston, said: “The final straw for me was that at 62 my size had crept up to a 22.

I had no idea what weight I was as I wouldn’t even step on a set of scales.“I was determined not to have to buy a bigger size of clothes.

I started making excuses for not going out or socialising as I was embarrassed and lacked confidence due to my size. My eldest daughter Cheryl felt much the same and said choose a group and we will join together so we did.”Cheryl added: “I was feeling so unhappy in myself.
