An Asda store was locked down with shoppers inside as a gang of youths tried to force their way inside. The incident took place at the store in Chesser, Edinburgh on Thursday, June 8 at around midnight after staff sounded an emergency alarm, reports Edinburgh Live.The workers at the Asda had recognised the unruly mob of teenagers and took evasive action, which led to the supermarket being locked down until officers arrived at the scene.Images from the scene show police cars outside the store and confused shoppers inside behind locked doors.A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers attended due to an alarm having sounded.

There was no complaint made and no criminality was established."An Asda spokesperson confirmed the incident and that police were called to help with the situation.Several arrests were made on Wednesday, May 17, after cops were called following reports of antisocial behaviour.Sergeant Mark Coull said: "We know that anti-social behaviour of youths in our local communities causes concern."We have increased patrols in the area and a number of youths have consequently been arrested and charged.

We continue to work with partner agencies to help tackle anti-social behaviour.“Tackling anti-social behaviour is a priority for Edinburgh police.
