Scotland weather maps show where and when 'polar blast' could bring -10C freeze

Spring is nearly on the horizon, but before the end of February, the UK could face another spell of freezing cold and unpredictable weather.New data from WXCharts shows temperatures plunging to a possible -10C in parts of Scotland next weekend after a few days of unseasonably mild weather for this time of year.It's possible some snow and ice could accompany this spell of freezing cold weather, although the Met Office has previously highlighted it's difficult to make accurate predictions more than two days in advance.The Mirror reports as we head towards the end of next week, an Arctic blast sweeping over the UK will be making things feel a lot colder than they are just now.

In the early hours of Friday February 23, temperatures could plunge to a bone-chilling -10C in parts of northeast Scotland, with many other areas including much of the central belt and southern Scotland struggling to get above freezing.

This chilly weather will continue over the weekend, but getting slightly milder by the time we reach Sunday February 25. The northeast looks set to see the worst of the freezing temperatures, but it's likely to feel cold all across Scotland at the end of next week.Early on Friday, Scots in the northeast could also see around eight inches of snow falling, with areas in the east of the country such as Edinburgh also likely to see some flurries.

Nick Finnis from Netweather is among the forecasters to predict a colder picture emerging in the days ahead. Giving a weather outlook for next week, writes on his latest blog post: "After a mild start to the week, it looks to turn colder, as bouts of polar maritime air spread in from the west, with rain turning increasingly to snow across northern and western hills towards the end
