Police discovered Ashley Dale gunman's car by chance after call to domestic incident, court hears

Police stumbled on the car used during the shooting of Ashley Dale by chance after being called to a domestic incident, a trial has heard.

The Knowsley Council worker died aged 28 after being shot in the abdomen and collapsing in the back yard of her home on Leinster Road, Old Swan, shortly after midnight on August 21 last year.

Five men are currently on trial at Liverpool Crown Court accused of her murder. Jurors previously heard that James Witham had kicked down the door of her house, where she was spending the evening alone with her dachshund Darla, before entering and shooting her with a Skorpion submachine gun, the Liverpool Echo reports. PC Sam Ward was called to give evidence to the jury yesterday afternoon (October 17). He described how a Hyundai i30N Performance which was used to transport the gunman to and from the scene was found parked on the driveway of a house on Waring Avenue in St Helens on October 9 2022.
