One of the men accused of murdering Ashley Dale in Liverpool said he got involved in conversations about buying sub-machine guns because he was "young and stupid" and "trying to act hard".

Knowsley Council worker Ms Dale died aged 28 after being shot in the abdomen and collapsing in her back yard in the Old Swan area of the city shortly after midnight on August 21 last year.

Niall Barry, 26, has been described as having "heavy beef" with Ashley's boyfriend, Lee Harrison, due to a feud stretching back around three years.

He was one of three men who allegedly "dispatched" James Witham, 41, and Joseph Peers, 29, to kill Harrison on the night Ms Dale died.
