People on some devolved payments will see weekly rates rise from today - full list

It was announced in December the Scottish Government would uprate benefits by 6.7 per cent from April 1 for the next financial year - in line with Consumer Price Index inflation rate in September of last year.The increase means the Scottish Child Payment has now increased from £25 per week to £26.70, and as it is paid every four weeks, this means parents will receive £106.80 over the 2024/25 financial year.
Someone on the highest rates of both components for Adult or Child Disability Payment will see weekly payments rise to £184.30, some £737.20 every four-week pay period.Carer Support Payment is Social Security Scotland’s newest devolved benefit and has gone up from £76.75 each week to £81.90.
The benefit for unpaid carers launched in Dundee, Perth and Kinross, and Western Isles in November last year and will be available across Scotland by Autumn 2024.According to the Scottish Government, the increase cost £370 million and will support 1.2 million people.Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “Our investment in social security helps low-income families with their living costs, enables disabled people to live full and independent lives, and supports older people to heat their homes in winter.“This financial year we are committing a record £6.3 billion for benefits expenditure - which is £1.1 billion more than the UK Government gives to the Scottish Government for social security.“We are making a choice to increase direct support for people who need it the most and that is more important than ever during the current cost of living crisis.”A full list of the new payment
