A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being injured during a three-car pile-up in Stockport today. The incident prompted the closure of Stockport Road in Cheadle following a significant response by the emergency services which resulted in 'traffic chaos'.
One person was taken to Salford Royal Hospital although their condition was not said to be life-threatening. The road was later re-opened. "The pedestrian has been taken to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment on his injuries, which are not life-threatening." Stagecoach had to divert a number of its services with passengers experiencing delays of around 40 minutes, the bus company confirmed.
One X account (formerly Twitter), @ThePundit77, said the incident caused 'traffic chaos in Cheadle'. They reported 'at least six police vans at the scene' and 'traffic nose-to-tail in all directions'.
