Olivia Wilde Revived the Gold Violin Dress at the 2023 Met Gala

Styled by , the 's look paid homage to the French fashion house's iconic , which was originally designed by Lagerfeld in 1983. “What I loved about the original design was the musical inspiration of it, and the surrealistic touch on it,” Chloé's current designer Gabriela Hearst told . “There was something quite timeless that we could bring back to the Met Gala in 2023.” Crucially, however, Hearst decided to lengthen Lagerfeld's knee-length design to make it feel more modern.
She also opted to design the frock in white instead of black. “We made it a gala dress instead of a cocktail dress, and I think it worked beautifully,” she added.
