Netflix's Password Sharing Crackdown Leads To A Lot of New Account Sign-Ups

Netflix just implemented its new password sharing rules over the past few months, cracking down on sharing one account for multiple households.

While many fans might not like the new rules for the streaming service, they seem to be getting the point of it, leading to a lot of new account sign-ups. Keep reading to find out more… According to a new report from measurement company Antenna, Netflix experienced four very large sign-up days from May 23 to May 27.

The company reports that there were nearly 100,000 sign-ups on both the 26th and the 27th. On average, Netflix had 73,000 subscribers sign up per day, Antenna says, which is around a 102% increase from the prior 60-day average.

While there were a lot of new sign-ups for the streamer during those days, there were also a lot of cancellations, too. The ratio, Antenna says, increased 25.6%.
