'My idol' - Rasmus Hojlund reveals his Manchester United hero growing up

Rasmus Hojlund has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo was his favourite Manchester United player growing up, labelling him his 'idol.' United finally unveiled Hojlund as their third signing of the summer on Saturday before the friendly victory over Lens at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has been desperate to add another striker to his ranks and the club have backed his choice by paying an initial £64million for the Dane, which could rise to £72m.

Though Hojlund will have to wait to make his debut after arriving in Manchester with a slight injury he picked up in pre-season, the move is a dream come true for the 20-year-old who grew up as a United fan.

He has revealed it was his family's support for the club that fuelled his own love and named Ronaldo as his hero. “My father pushed it over my head, and I started following everybody around the club and of course, I was very into Premier League football and everything around it," he told United's in-house media. “So, I kept watching, and of course, Cristiano [Ronaldo] was my idol when he was playing back then, so I kept following him and of course kept following Manchester United.
