According to the pop star's team, Shakira rejected a deal to settle her tax evasion case, in which prosecutors allege she defrauded Spain's government of $15 million. Details of the deal are not known. Shakira, 45, "trusts her innocence and chooses to leave the issue in the hands of the law," the PR firm Llorente y Cuenca told the Associated Press. A trial date has not been set. If found guilty of tax evasion, Shakira could face prison time.Back in 2018, the Spanish government charged Shakria, claiming she failed to pay 14.5 million euros ($15 million) in income earned between 2012 and 2014.
