Mums of teens battered by bullies meet with Scottish Parliament to tackle youth violence

The mums of two teenage girls who were horrifically attacked by bullies have met with the Scottish Parliament in their fight to tackle an epidemic of youth violence.The meeting, held in Glasgow yesterday, included the mothers of 13-year-old Abbie Jarvis and 12-year-old Kaylynn Donald.

Abbie was just 12-years-old when she was beaten unconscious at a skatepark in Glasgow in October last year in an attack which left her in hospital for two days.Just three weeks later, Kaylynn was on a bus on her way home from class in Ladybank, Fife.

She suffered multiple blows to the body and head and had clumps of her hair ripped out. Both attacks were filmed by other children who uploaded the sickening clips to social media.Their mothers, Angela Jarvis and Vicky Donald, spoke to Jackson Carlaw MSP - Convenor of the Parliament's Public Petitions Committee - to tell him about the impact of youth violence on victims.

It comes after community campaigner Alex O'Kane launched Abbie's Petition, which calls for robust action to tackle the issue.Speaking after the meeting, Abbie's mum Angela, 43, told the Record: "I showed the people in the meeting pictures of Abbie when she was covered in bruises.
