Dolph Lundgren has shared the sad news that he's been battling cancer for eight years. The action movie star, 65, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal as Ivan Drago, the titular character's nemesis in the Rocky films, has said that he blames his steroid use for leading to his cancer battle.

Speaking on In Depth with Graham Besinger, the actor revealed that he was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015. At the time he had surgery to remove the cancer, which was successful, and went into remission.

He then remained in good health until more tumours were discovered in 2020. Sharing the scary news, Dolph said: "In 2020, I was back in Sweden and I had some kind of acid reflux, I didn’t know what it was so I did an MRI. "They found that there were a few more tumours around that area. They found one more tumour in the liver, so I was like aw s*** okay." Dolph shared that he was then told he had about two to three years to live, although added that he was particularly bitter about this as he's had a great life. The actor then received a second opinion from oncologist Dr.

Alexandra Drakaki, who placed Dolph in treatment to shrink the tumour, which has been a huge success with the tumour having now shrunk to 90 per cent of its original size.
