Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell has been dealt a major blow with news that Jon Obika could be out longer term with a hamstring injury. The former St Mirren striker replaced Conor Wilkinson with 10 minutes left of Sunday’s 2-1 Premiership win over Hibs, but Kettlewell revealed he has broken down again, with a recurrence of an injury that has already kept Obika out for large spells of his Fir Park career. But as he prepares for Saturday's Viaplay Cup last-16 clash at St Mirren, Kettlewell doesn't yet know the full extent of the injury, or if he will need to bring in reinforcements to replace Obika in his squad.Kettlewell said: “Jon came on to the pitch on Sunday, it was great to have him back in, but without giving away too much detail – which I don’t have at this minute in time – it looks as if we might be missing Jon for a lengthier period of time than what we thought.“That’s a disappointment, and I’ll keep you guys updated as and when I have the full extent of the injury.”Kettlewell says he’s not yet tempted to bring in a striker."We’ve not crossed that bridge yet,” he said. “To be honest until I can get the full extent and a time-scale, I certainly wouldn’t be looking along those lines.“It’s a hamstring, he’s got a problem with his hamstring and that’s as much as we’ve got just now.“I will go into a wee bit more detail, once I’ve got it.”Kettlewell also says the game might come a bit too soon for Harry Paton.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
