Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

However, in June, the band recorded a new song, ‘Gun Under The Gun (GUG)’, for the Post Malone-curated soundtrack of 2K’s WWE 2K24.According to the band, they were given just 24 hours to create the track and took influence from Motörhead’s classic theme for WWE legend Triple H. “A wrestling intro needs to start big and iconic, get more aggressive, and then go heavier,” Shelton told New Noise Magazine. “That’s how the song ended up—starting big and spacey, then more aggressive, and finally half-time for a total beatdown.”In January, the band released ‘Life Under the Sun’, which saw them rework songs off their 2023 album ‘Life Under The Gun’ by inviting collaborators from Manchester Orchestra, Bully and Mannequin Pussy.
