The Met Office has delivered its verdict on a so-called 'snow bomb' that has previously been predicted to grip the UK in the run-up to Christmas.
Weather maps from WXCharts show up to a centimetre of the white stuff falling in Scotland on December 19, whilst areas further down south didn't appear to see any snowfall in a stark contrast.But according to the Met Office, the weather is set to be a lot milder and settled than this, with snow on lower ground 'unlikely' in the run-up to Christmas Day.
The Mirror reports that according to the charts, temperatures in Scotland will rang from 0-4C when December 19 hit. However, there's no mention of snow in the Met Office's mid or long-range forecast - instead it points towards more average temperatures, which is around 6C for Scotland at this time of the year.
Met Office spokeswoman Nichola Maxey told The Mirror: "It looks like we are going to have a more settled second half to the week.
