Mainoo has been one of the stars of the US tour with Erik ten Hag trusting him in four of United's five friendlies so far this summer.
Chosen to play alongside Casemiro in central midfield, many saw tonight's game as a chance for the teenager to prove his worth against top tier opposition.
However, Mainoo's night ended prematurely with no more than a couple of minutes on the clock. The 18-year-old picked up an injury when Casemiro fouled Rodrygo leading to the Real man falling onto the young midfielder.
