Former Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst has departed England for a spell in Germany with Hoffenheim as parent club Burnley were unable to make him a focal point in their team and have opted to go in a different direction.

Weghorst spent the whole of last season away from Turf Moor in two separate loan spells, firstly in Turkey at Besiktas. He then moved in January to United for the second half of the campaign.

The striker won the Carabao Cup with United, and despite his endeavour and work rate, only found the back of the net only twice in his time at Old Trafford.

United did not pursue the opportunity to sign the striker on a full-time basis and he returned to Burnley.
