Manchester United fans continue to await news on Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment in the club but the INEOS founder remains primed to join the boardroom.
Earlier this month, Ratcliffe's main rival in the takeover process Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, announced he was withdrawing himself from the process.
MEN Sport understands the Qatari banker cited the Glazers' valuation of the club as the main reason behind his exit. With Ratcliffe now the only contender left in the race, it is expected he will purchase a 25 per cent minority stake in the Reds but still hopes to complete a full takeover in time.
While no official announcement has been made on the arrival of the British billionaire, speculation still remains as to what was the factor which pushed Sheikh Jassim out of the process. READ MORE: The players who could follow Mitchell to United READ MORE: Who is Paul Mitchell?
