Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not be short of problems to address if he takes charge of footballing operations at Manchester United and two former players have identified one of his biggest challenges.
The Ineos founder and petrochemicals billionaire looks set to take a minority share in United, following the withdrawal of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani from the bidding process.
Having initially proposed to take a majority, it looks as though he will invest around £1.4billion for 25 per cent of the club.
Concern regarding the retention of power by the Glazers has been somewhat eased by reports that Ratcliffe will take over with the running of United from a football perspective.
