Manchester United are reportedly considering appointing former Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell. The report from The Telegraph stems from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s pending deal to purchase a 25 per cent stake in the club.
It has been widely reported that Ratcliffe will take over control of sporting matters at Old Trafford, with suggestions that he will sit on a three-person committee alongside Joel Glazer and INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford.
It is suggested that Ratcliffe, whose INEOS group also owns Nce and Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport, is ‘keen’ to appoint a sporting director at United, with Paul Mitchell said to be the ‘frontrunner’.
However, it is worth noting that John Murtough is United’s football director and there is nothing to suggest he will be leaving his post.
