Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes VAR official Michael Oliver was wrong to intervene during the controversial, last-gasp West Ham penalty decision in a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
United were left in uproar after Oliver advised on-field referee David Coote, who had initially waved away the protests, to go and look at the pitch-side monitor - having deemed Matthijs de Ligt to have fouled Danny Ings.
After Coote pointed to the spot following a VAR review, De Ligt's argument that there had been a handball in the lead up to the foul was dismissed.
Jarrod Bowen fired home the resulting 92nd-minute penalty to condemn United to their fourth defeat in nine Premier League games already this season.
