UK tourists on holiday in Spanish destinations including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Majorca and mainland Spain have been warned of transport disruption today, Monday October 28.

Road transport workers including bus and taxi drivers are set to walk out in a dispute over retirement age. The industrial action will “likely prompt public transport disruptions and potential additional congestion for road users,” according to the website Crisis24.

It will likely cause a surge in demand for alternative public transport. The strike action, which started at midnight on Sunday and will last until 11.59pm on Monday, involves unionised road transport workers, and could include unionised taxi drivers.

Crisis24 warns that private passenger drivers may also join the strike. READ MORE: Jet2 issues travel warning to passengers in Spanish holiday destinations Haulage drivers had planned to join the strike but an agreement was reached on October 24 resulting in the action being called off.
