A man who smashed into a charity shop before forcing a hole in the wall and into a neighbouring Tesco, causing over £5,000 worth of damage, has been jailed for three years.

Stefan Moores, 34, travelled to Chester alongside two unknown accomplices in a stolen car on November 19, 2023. The group smashed open the door of a Barnardo’s charity shop at Weston Grove shopping parade in Upton, where they stole £450 in cash that 'could have been used to help vulnerable children'.

The men then set about making a large hole in the wall to gain access to the adjoining Tesco Express, from where they stole approximately £10,000 worth of cigarettes and stamps, a sentencing hearing at Chester Crown Court heard on Friday (April 5).
