A man had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering a serious head injury when their electric scooter was involved in a crash with a car The incident happened just before 12.05pm when initial reports suggested a car collided with a bicycle on Eldon Street in the Tonge Moor area of the town.
The ambulance service later clarified the crash involved an electric scooter, not a bicycle. The emergency services were called to the scene, the road was closed and the man was treated by paramedics at the scene and then airlifted to hospital. A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at 12.05pm today to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a car on Eldon Street, Tonge Moor. "The cyclist has potentially life-threatening injuries and has been airlifted to Salford Royal Hospital." A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service later told the M.E.N.
