Lee Johnson is back in football less than a month after his sacking by Hibs. The former Bristol City and Sunderland manager has returned to the EFL with League One side Fleetwood Town after Easter Road chiefs pulled the trigger on him following three defeats from three opening Premiership matches.
A loss to Andorran minnows Inter d'Escaldes put him on the wrong footing from the off with punters after a mixed first term and big summer transfer backing coupled with poor domestic results in August proved too much to come back from. Now he replaces Scott Brown as Cod Army boss after he endured a draw and five defeats in his first six matches of the third tier season, and his replacement wants into the nitty gritty straight away.
Johnson told club media: "I’m absolutely delighted to be here, I’m not long out of a job and I’ve been humbled that the club made such a big effort to get me here but, at the same time, I’ve known Fleetwood for a long time.
I’ve watched the journey, which has been fantastic for the football club, and I want to be part of the new era by helping the success continue.“I’ve had good friends who have managed here, and they all spoke well about the club, that’s not just the fanbase and the players, but the people around the place as well.
