A man fell to his death from a ninth floor flat moments after police came through the door and told him he was being arrested on suspicion of possession of indecent images of children, the M.E..N.

can reveal. The suspect, a man in his 40s who has not been named, was about to be led away when he asked to retrieve an item of clothing.

Moments later he fell from a balcony window in front of shocked officers, it is understood. Police raced to the ground floor and attempted CPR but the man was declared dead at the scene.
