Man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by lorry on main road

A man who was hit by a lorry on a main road in Trafford remains in a serious condition in hospital, police have confirmed. The victim, whose identity police did not initially know after the major collision, was rushed to hospital from the scene after being struck by the HGV on Washway Road, near Timperley, at around 10.45am last Monday (March 4).

A public appeal was launched by Greater Manchester Police following the crash, with CCTV images of the man they believed to be the victim, in order to help trace who he was. A number of police vehicles and paramedics attended the collision beside the Trafford College campus. The main road was closed off throughout the day as it leads onto Manchester Road amid investigations as an air ambulance also landed nearby.

In an update, GMP Trafford South posted: "A man involved in a collision last week has now been identified - thank you to those who shared our appeal.
