A man declared himself a 'fugitive' on Facebook as he fled to Bulgaria after being found with ingredients to make a bomb. Police found a ‘substantial quantity of chemicals’ and several bomb-making manuals when they raided David Bodill's home.

After being arrested, the 29-year-old left the UK and travelled to the Balkan nation. He was extradited back to the UK earlier this year.

At Manchester Crown Court yesterday (Monday), a judge sentenced Bodill to two-and-a-half years in prison. Join our WhatsAp p Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. The court heard that police raided Bodill’s home in March 2020 and found various chemicals, including potassium nitrate, sulphur and carbon.

Martin Hackett, prosecuting, said Bodill had purchased the ingredients, which were capable of making gunpowder. Officers also found ball bearings, caps and instruction manuals for making bombs.
