A Married at First Sight UK star has revealed they nearly went on a date with fellow cast member Ella before the show started.

While Ella was coupled up with Nathanial on the show, their relationship failed to develop after the groom admitted he wasn't sure if he fancied her.

The series got even more dramatic when Ella confessed she has feelings for JJ, despite him tying the knot with Bianca. And now, in another twist, contestant George has revealed that he actually came close to going on a date with Ella, around five years before they were both cast on the show.

Speaking on the Divorced! Beheaded! Thrived! podcast, he said: "I actually knew Ella from five years ago when I lived in Bristol.
