Tens of thousands of people are taking to the streets of London to take on one of the world's largest marathon events. Today, Sunday (April 23), the London Marathon is back for 2023 - the 43rd edition of the annual event.
Around 40,000 athletes will take on the iconic 26.2-mile course through the capital city, with many raising money for charity.
And this year, for the first time since 2019, the marathon returns to its usual spot in the spring calendar, after the previous three editions were moved to October due to the pandemic.
The London Marathon is known for being one of the best races for spectators - with some of the most talented elite runners from across the globe competing in the race, as well as thousands of members of the public - some likely to be in outlandish fancy dress - also taking part.
