The past week has seen two major events from Manchester Council cancelled, with Bonfire Night displays called off last week before the Christmas Lights switch-on was also given the boot on Monday.
The Bonfire Night displays were called off due to "escalating costs", while the amount of construction work taking place in the city was the reason given for switching the Christmas Lights switch-on off.
