LCD Soundsystem’s pulsing new single ‘X-Ray Eyes’ is now available on streaming platforms – listen to it below.James Murphy and co first shared the song as a worldwide exclusive on NTS Radio on October 22, which has been the only place to hear it ever since, but the track is now available on Spotify, Apple Music and other services. It is the first new material from the group – aside from the standalone ‘New Body Rhumba’ from Noah Baumbach’s 2022 film White Noise – since their 2017 comeback album ‘American Dream’, which itself ended a seven-year break after 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’.The track is carried by a pulsing rhythm and more straight-forward earworm approach, with a similar energy to earlier works like ‘Yeah’, ‘Losing My Edge’ and ‘Time To Get Away’.

The trance-inducing flow of Murphy singing of how he’s “got eyes that can see through your disguise” gives way to his stream of consciousness calling out “every busboy, cigarette girl, dental hygienist, backpacking teen, newspaper seller, and the nightclub MC, you’re everything – you’re all I can see.

The bones in your body, the blood in your veins, your hasty decisions and behavioural chains…”It has been revealed that ‘X-Ray Eyes’ is the first tease of a new album that the band will be releasing at some point in 2025.The band have also been announced as one of the acts for next year’s Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.

The 23rd edition of the event takes place at the Parc del Fòrum from June 4-8, and will also see performances from FKA Twigs, HAIM, Jamie xx, Fontaines D.C., Beach House, IDLES, Clairo, Turnstile and more. That follows on from their stunning sunset slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury earlier this year.
