Late Queen was once mistaken for 'lost old dear' and refused entry to Windsor Horse Show

The Royal Windsor Horse Show is currently in full swing, and it was known to be a highlight on every calendar for the late Queen Elizabeth.The monarch attended the show, held next to Windsor Castle, every year since she was a youngster and her great passion for horses was very well documented throughout her long life.As we previously reported, regulars at the event were used to seeing Her Majesty pop in and have a wander about, so it's safe to say they will be missing her presence these days.

But with many fond memories to look back on, one in particular may come to mind.The horse show was one of the Queen's favourite engagements but back in 1991, the most famous woman in the world was almost turned away at the gates.
