Lanarkshire MSP welcomes council's announcement to reopen Strathclyde Park road

A Lanarkshire MSP has welcomed the announcement from North Lanarkshire Council that they are reopening the road connecting Motherwell and Bellshill via Strathclyde Park.

The connecting road had been closed since the beginning of lockdown.When lockdown restrictions eased Central Scotland list MSP Meghan Gallacher, who was a local councillor at the time, campaigned for the road to be immediately reopened following resident concerns about the length of the closure.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The reopening has taken longer than I would have liked but the news will be very welcome by locals who used to rely on this connecting route before the pandemic.“The addition of better signage and traffic calming measures will help reassure pedestrians that speeds will be kept to a minimum.“It is vital that pedestrians are aware that the road has now
