Kilmarnock residents slam fly-tipping and litter left for months
dailyrecord.co.ukResidents of three streets in Kilmarnock insist they are the victim of ongoing fly-tipping and littering in the area.Concerns were raised by neighbours in Glebe Road, Welbeck Street and Arbuckle Street who believe all the littering in the area "creates a public health hazard" and that East Ayrshire Council "is not doing enough to help" after several complaints.One of the residents told Ayrshire Live: "For months now these streets have been littered with broken glass as well as dumped domestic items including three piece suites, mattresses and discarded furniture. "One property in Glebe Road has piles of festering domestic waste spilling out of bin bags in the front garden adjoining the pavement and attracting vermin."The broken glass in Arbuckle Street has been there for a year.
There is also a severe Mares Tail infestation in Arbuckle Street which is now growing up through the footpath and road surface.
This is not good enough."It was reported to local councillors and the furniture was removed from Glebe Road, however, the residents claim that the broken glass and other debris including the mattress and East Ayrshire roadworks sign at Welbeck Street have been left lying.The resident added: "Greener Communities are claiming that the pavements have been swept.
If this is the case then why has broken glass and litter been left lying? East Ayrshire Council surely have a duty to keep our streets and pavements clean and enforce fly-tipping legislation.
