Jake Gyllenhaal Discusses How Being Legally Blind Helps Him When Acting

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Jake explained that he considered his eyesight to be “advantageous,” including professionally. Keep reading to find out more… “I like to think it’s advantageous,” he told the outlet. “I’ve never known anything else.
When I can’t see in the morning, before I put on my glasses, it’s a place where I can be with myself.” Speaking about how being blind has affected his career, Jake said that he has used it to his advantage in certain situations.
For instance, he filmed an emotional scene in his movie Southpaw without contact lenses. Doing so made it so that he had to “listen more closely.” Elsewhere in the interview, Jake discussed the possibility of getting married to his longtime girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu.
