Princess Beatrice may have given a significant clue about her future role within the Royal Family by assisting Prince William at a key UK event. The royals were recently mobilised as Japanese Emperor Naruhito - a university friend of King Charles III - arrived in the country for an official visit earlier this week.

The Emperor, who ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne in 2019, has been treated to a week of grandeur and ceremony, accompanied by numerous royals for state events while the Prime Minister and other key officials are preoccupied with the general election.Prince William is among the senior royals playing a significant role in the visit, which meant that 35 year old Beatrice was called upon to fulfil one of his duties, the Mirror reports.Although she's not an official member of the Royal rota under the King's streamlined model, she stepped in for the Prince during an Earthshot Prize event. The prize, established by the heir-to-the-throne with the support of the Royal Foundation in 2020, hosted a water roundtable on June 25, when William was busy welcoming the Emperor and Empress Masako to British shores.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
